Scholarship Interest-Free loan Requirements & Conditions:

Aid Forms

For the Academic year 2008/2009, the new Deadline for the "Fall Semester" is September 01, 2008. (No exemption)

Policy of ASAI Scholarship Loan:

  • Financial Aid is given for one degree only.

  • For PhD Financial Aid is given for three academic years if needed and for Master for two academic years if needed.

  • One applicant from the same family is accepted.

  • Amount of Loan is determined based on: number of applicants, level of living in country of study, field of specialization, and our allocation budget.

  • Repayment of loans must be secured through (2 guarantors) and must be paid within 3 years through an installments plan or at one time.

  • Deadlines are 1st of September and 1st of February of the academic year. 

  • Loan is given for one academic year regardless of the time of application.

  • Loan is renewed only to qualified students.

 

Eligibility Requirements for Fall Scholarship Interest-Free Loans for the Academic Year 2008/2009:

  1. You must finish one semester (full-time) in your current program. To be eligible for the scholarship loan (If not, you are not eligible until your finished your first semester)

  2. You must be an Arab citizen (students who are a permanent resident or citizen of a non-Arab country do not qualify, including those with a dual citizenship).

  3. You must have student visa (those who have immigrant visa don't qualify).

  4. You should plan to return to the Arab countries to work, and serve your Arab community after your graduation.

  5. You must be academically a highly-qualified student,

  6. Should be in financial need with proven documentation.

  7. Enrollment for a PhD or Master (MA/MS) program at accredited university outside your country of residence (Applicants who are enrolled as Bachelors degree (BA) student's are not eligible).

  8. Applicants should be registered as full-time students; applicants who are registered as a part-time, online, via correspondence, etc. are not eligible.

If you meet these eight requirements, you can fill out the forms listed below. Please read scholarship loan agreement carefully.

 

The following documents should be submitted to ASAI Scholarship Committee before a decision is made on the request for financial assistance:

  1. Completed Application and forms.

  2. A Personal photo (Passport size).

  3. Official copy's of all previous degree/'s transcript/'s that you have. (Official transcripts required). for example:

    • Masters degree applicants, you should submit the transcript of your Bachelors Degree, and

    • PhD degree applicants, you should submit the transcript of your Masters Degree.

  4. Proof of enrollment an official letter from your university stating that you are officially registered at the present time at an accredited university and have completed one semester in the PhD or MA/MS Program.

  5. Official transcript of grades (Photocopies are not acceptable) to proof that  you have completed one semester as a full-time student in the PhD or Masters program with a “B” overall average, excluding pre-requisite courses.

  6. Two Letters of recommendation from your current instructor or main supervisors .

  7. A Copy of your student visa and your passport or your national ID.

  8. A Copy of I-20 or J-1 Visa (for the students studying in USA).

When all the above ASAI requirements are met and the official documents received, qualified students will be notified based on the decision of the ASAI student committee on or before the second week of September, 2008

Notes for All candidates who are applying for ASAI Loan:

  • Please submit your application on time.

  • Incomplete application documents will not be considered.

  • Send official and original documents by mail only (Air Mail, Registered, and Express). Any documents sent by fax or e-mail cannot be accepted as originals. Please write your full name and address clearly on both your letter and the envelope in the English language. 

  • Documents in any language other than English must be translated into English, and Certified by Notary Public.

  • Foreign language courses, or courses taken as prerequisite for enrollment in Masters or PhD studies, are not considered as part of the Masters or PhD program, and it doesn't count toward your first semester request .

  • Financial assistance is given to students who are enrolled in the core academic program courses. Those who are now attending foreign language courses (i.e. English, German, French, Spanish, and Turkish etc.) will have to apply after completing such courses, and have completed one full-time semester in the degree core courses with GPA of (B+) or Very Good. International grading systems.

  • All of the applicants whom previously received scholarship loans for the period less than one academic year are not eligible and they have to wait until the next year. for example if you received your first loan in September of the current year you have to wait until the next September to be qualified for the second loan. but for the February deadline the case is differ because the next September will be considered another academic year and therefore you can apply.

ASAI Scholarship Committee will review applications of students who completed the above requirements only.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Candidates for Master and/or PhD Program can only apply.

Citizenship of Applicants:

Students applying should be citizens of an Arab country (those who are permanent residents or citizens of a non-Arab county do not qualify as well as those with dual citizenship including that of the country where the student is currently studying).  Those who have dual citizenship should indicate that on ASAI forms. 

Loan Repayment:

Loan repayment is obligatory to all who are receiving scholarship loans without exception.  Every recipient should sign and authenticate in his home country as well as the country of study the required ASAI forms.

After graduating from the University, students are required to begin repayment no later than six months their interest free loans in installments with yearly increases during the span perido of three years or less from their graduation date.

Loan Renewal Policy:

Renewal of the loan for the second academic year  is based on conditions such as:

  • Availability of funds, number of applicants, scholastic achievement.

  • Good standing at university. (could be proved through “Recommendation Letter”)

  • Full-time attendance. (could be proved through “Enrollment Letter”)

  • Prevailing need for the loan. (could be proved through “ Applicant Letter”)

  • If you received any previous loan from ASAI and you are requesting a renewal of the loan,  you have to report any changes in the content of  Form A-1, Form A-2, and Form A-3 which you already submitted. if there is no any change updating Form A-3 (Financial Guarantee Form) along with the guarantor employment verification letters is required.

  • see step no. 5 below for the requested documents.

The designated Committee of ASAI will decide on the renewal status of each applicant.

 

ASAI Scholarship Loan Procedures:

Step 1:  Submission of initial documents:

  • Scholarship application form A-1, (Please read instruction and provide all the document's required).

  • Scholarship agreement Form A-2, (Please read agreement carefully before applying and signing because this promise is binding.

  • Financial Guarantee Form A-3, (Please attach all documents required) 

Step 2: ASAI Committee’s Decision:

ASAI will review applications and approved applicants will be notified about the allocated scholarship loan amount.

Step 3: Granting the Loan

When ASAI approves the loan, the applicant will be notified with the amount of the allocated loan for the academic year .The check will be sent to the applicant current address as provided in the application.  The applicant should then return to ASAI main office the forms attached to the check and a receipt from the university stating the amount of tuition paid. 

Step 4: The student must notify the ASAI main office immediately if any one of the following events takes place:

  1. He / she reduced his / her enrollment status to less than half time.

  2. Withdrawal from the school.

  3. Stop attending class.

  4. He / she are unable to re-enroll for any term.

  5. Any change in the expected date of graduation.

  6. Any change in current address, permanent address or e-mail address.

Step 5: Documents Required for Renewal of the Loan:

The following documentation are required for renewal of ASAI’s Scholarship Loan:

  1. Request for renewal of the loan, and Indication of the prevailing need for financial assistance. (could be proved through “ Applicant Letter”)

  2. Full-time attendance Letter from respective graduate department indicating enrollment for the subsequent academic year. (could be proved through “Enrollment Letter”)

  3. New address and home telephone, mobile telephone, and fax numbers as well as e-mail address, if changed.

  4. Good standing at university. (could be proved through “Recommendation Letter”)

  5. If applicant received any previous loan from ASAI and he/she requesting a renewal of the loan,  he/she has to report any changes in the content of  Form A-1, Form A-2, and Form A-3 which he already submitted. if there is no any change updating Form A-3 (Financial Guarantee Form) along with the guarantor employment verification letters is required.

ASAI designated Committee will review the documents and will advise the applicant on the status of loan renewal.  If the renewal is approved then the same procedure used the first time will be followed.

Step 6: Applicant responsibility after graduation:

  1. Send a copy of your degree to the ASAI main office.

  2. Start repayment of the loan you owed to ASAI no later than six months from your graduation date.

  3. Inform ASAI of the new (or forwarding) address.
